Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Katrina Kaif reportedly part ways with Farhan Akhtar’s ambitious project ‘Jee Le Zaraa’
Ever since the announcement was made about two years ago, Bollywood fans were eagerly waiting for Farhan Akhtar directed film ‘Jee Le Zaraa’ to hit the cinema screens.
The film, which was set to star some of Bollywood’s top actresses including Katrina Kaif, Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Alia Bhatt, has faced several delays. It has been reported that the film is going to be a spin-off of superhit film ‘Dil Chahta Hai’ which released in 2001, and will explore female friendship, set against the backdrop of a road trip.
However, due to the constant delays, it has come to light that Priyanka has opted out of the film. Later, it was also reported that Katrina has also decided to part ways with the highly anticipated project.
A source close to Priyanka informed reporters that her dates clashed with Alia and her upcoming projects, due to which she had to opt out. Due to the pandemic and the busy schedules of the actresses, it seems that Farhan Akhtar has not been able to decide on when the film will be released.
With both Priyanka and Katrina opting out of the film, reports have stated that the filmmaker has considered roping in Anushka Sharma and Kiara Advani. However, an official announcement has not been made regarding the changes.
In an interview with news agency PTI, Priyanka revealed how the project was conceived. She said that everything happened during a phone call with Katrina and Alia. “I called up Alia and Katrina, this is before Farhan or anybody came (on board). I called the girls first. I was sitting at home and I wanted to do a Hindi movie. But I wanted it to be on the terms of women,” she said.
‘Jee Le Zaraa’ is expected to be produced by Excel Entertainment and Tiger Baby Productions.
