Former boxing champion Amir Khan continues to be embroiled in scandals as a petition against him surfaced online recently.
The ex-boxer has been accused of allegedly using his status as a celebrity to prey on vulnerable women.
Recent reports have also stated that he has separated from his wife, Faryal Makhdoom, after it was revealed that he had approached a bridal model online and asked for racy photos of her.
Another woman also came forward alleging that she had a four-month-long affair with Khan, which ended when Makhdoom threatened to out her. This is not the first time the star has been subject to cheating scandals.
An online petition alleges that the boxing champion uses his fame and wealth to target women, and has already received over 1200 signatures.
It states: “Amir Khan has been involved in a pattern of seeking out vulnerable women and girls, initiating relationships with them, and subsequently engaging in sexual activities while secretly filming them.
“These actions allegedly form the basis for blackmail, where Khan threatens to release compromising videos and photographs to extort compliance from his victims.”
It has also been mentioned that when Makhdoom confronts Khan about the accusations, they team up and try to silence the women, leading them to feel “defamed, scared, and emotionally traumatised”.
The petition continued: “All the while, Khan continues to profit and flourish in the media industry, perpetuating a cycle of abuse and exploitation.”
It has asked for Khan to be held responsible for his actions.
It added: “No individual, regardless of their wealth, status, or influence, should be allowed to exploit vulnerable individuals and engage in acts that cause lasting harm to their victims.
“It is imperative that we take a stand against such behaviour, safeguard the rights of women, and prevent rich individuals from exploiting their positions.
“It is crucial that we create an environment where women can feel safe and secure, free from the fear of exploitation and abuse.
“Let us join forces to protect the rights of vulnerable women and ensure that those who misuse their positions of power are held accountable for their actions.”
Several people have supported the petition so far.
A user named Ayyce x wrote: “No woman deserves to be disgraced or publicly humiliated yet a young woman. Absolutely disgusting! Hope you get your justice darling x”
Another user wrote: “Ever since his Olympic win, I have loosely followed his career and, from what I saw, considered him to be a decent family man. Having read your petition, I am both shocked and disappointed to find that, if accusations are proved, he is yet another abusive man fighting against women. Follow the accusations and fully investigate them. If proved, he must be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.”
Uzma Rafiq added: “This is about holding those in power accountable for their actions.”
The petition has also been shared by Sumaira, the bridal model who was approached by Khan in May this year.
