Owner of infamous Glasgow liquor store ‘GG Brothers’ passes away

A respected community member and the owner of Glasgow liquor store, GG Brothers, has passed away at the age of 84.
According to Glasgow Live, Gurdev Singh, also known as ‘GG’, was suffering from a short-term illness and was surrounded by close family and friends at the time of his death.
GG Brothers is located on Argyle Street and was opened by Singh when he arrived in Glasgow in 1984.
Members of his family paid tribute to him and described him as “a loving and caring husband, son, father, brother and grandfather. GG enjoyed spending time with his family and making everyone laugh.”
Popularly known as ‘Mr Finnieston’, the liquor store owner received several tributes from other members of the community who knew him. One person said, “GG uncle was a memorable part of my childhood growing up on Argyle street, I was and still am deeply saddened for the families huge loss to a man who I always remember smiling.”
A service was held on March 15, 2023 for those who wished to pay their respects.
A small prayer was held outside Glasgow Central Gurdwara and everyone was welcomed to join the family at Glasgow Central Gurdwara after the service for prayers and Guru’s Langar.
