A west London man has been charged with attempted murder of two police constables during the ongoing unrest in Leicester Square.
The incident, which occurred on Friday, 16 September, saw Mohammed Rahman stabbing the two officers for which he has been charged with attempted murder of a male constable and causing grievous bodily harm with intent to a female constable.

The Police confirmed that the stabbings in Leicester Square were not being treated as acts of terrorism. However, the newly appointed Met Commissioner Sir Mark Rowley said that the female police officer had suffered a life-changing injury as a result of the attack, while the male officer is expected to make a full recovery.
London mayor Sadiq Khan expressed shock at the incident saying, “This attack on serving police officers in Soho overnight is utterly appalling. These brave officers were doing their duty and assisting the public at this momentous time for our country.
“My thoughts and prayers are with them, their loved ones, and police colleagues following this disgraceful attack. Our police officers run towards danger to protect others and keep us safe and we owe them a huge debt of gratitude.”
According to reports, Khan discussed the incidents with Sir Mark Rowley and said that attacks against the police will not be tolerated. He also has asked members of the public to assist with the investigation.
