Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty’s husband, Raj Kundra, made headlines in 2021 after reports of him filming and distributing adult content through apps came to light.
Kundra, who is often seen wearing distinctive masks in paparazzi photos, to allegedly hide his face after the revelation, is back on the scene.
The British Indian businessman was recently seen donning the hat of a stand-up comedian after he performed for his friend and comedian Munawar Faruqui.
Kundra has also revealed that he will be debuting as an actor in his own film – UT 69.
Directed by Shahnawaz Ali, the film adopts a satirical angle when addressing the actual events that occurred during Kundra’s time in prison at Arthur Road jail. The movie is set for a theatrical release on November 3.
As the film approaches its release, the father-of-two has decided to share his experiences of the humiliation he endured during his two-month imprisonment, shedding light on the conditions of his confinement and the emotional stress he went through.
According to The Indian Express, Kundra said, “It’s humiliating because they strip you down completely in front of everyone. They check your bum to see if you are carrying any narcotics. So, you feel like you have lost all your dignity.
“You feel like you have gone through so much, and now here also, they are stripping you down. Media was already doing that, and now this also happened. I felt disheartened and hurt. You don’t get proper food or sleep, and people were talking lecherously about me and Shilpa.”
He went on to shed light on the overcrowded living conditions in the prison, expressing his bewilderment at not being assigned to the barracks typically reserved for so-called celebrities. Instead, he found himself in a common barrack, but he held no grievances about it.
He clarified that the celebrity barracks didn’t translate to receiving VIP treatment; it was simply a matter of having fewer occupants, with only five individuals residing there. In contrast, the common barracks were excessively crowded, accommodating 250 people in a space designed for just 50.
Kundra also revealed the emotional turmoil he experienced during his prison term. He disclosed that he reached a breaking point to the extent that he contemplated taking drastic measures while he was in prison.
He refrained from using a specific word but conveyed a sense of feeling trapped in a situation marked by significant humiliation and harm to his reputation. Due to his actions, the media relentlessly pursued his wife, children, and parents, which caused him immense distress. However, he hopes that with time the world will know the truth that he has known all along.
