The British High Commissioner to India, Alex Ellis hosted a reception and screening of the Coronation of Their Majesties King Charles III and Queen Camilla, at his residence in New Delhi.
This historic milestone was celebrated in the UK over a special long weekend with events to bring the UK together, and celebrations and events taking place at 280 diplomatic missions around the world.
The reception was attended by a wide range of dignitaries from the Government of India, representatives from Commonwealth nations, business leaders, and other eminent personalities. The High Commissioner also joined Chef Shaun Kenworthy in the kitchen to prepare the ‘Coronation Quiche’ for the guests.

“His Majesty has had a long and enduring love for India and it is my privilege celebrating this moment with friends here in Delhi.”
The Honourable Vice President of India was also in attendance at the Coronation in Westminster Abbey. Westminster Abbey has been Britain’s Coronation church since 1066. King Charles III is the 40th monarch to swear the traditional oath of faithful service.
To add a multi-faith touch to the traditionally Christian religious ceremony, leaders from other faiths were also invited to participate for the first time. Lord Narendra Babubhai Patel, 84, represented the Hindu faith and carried the sovereign’s ring. Lord Indrajit Singh, 90, represented the Sikh faith and carried the coronation glove. Lord Kamall, 56, a London-born Muslim peer, carried the arm ills or a pair of bracelets.
On Sunday, 7 May, the Coronation Concert was held at Windsor Castle, bringing global music icons and contemporary stars together in celebration, attended by 10,000 lucky ballot winners and staff and volunteers from The King and Queen’s charities.
In tribute to His Majesty’s life of public service, The Big Help Out on Monday, 8 May encouraged people to volunteer and join work to support their local areas.
