BBC News viewers were entertained on the morning of Thursday, August 31 when the anchor inadvertently referred to Donald Trump as ‘Donald Tramp’.
This humorous moment occurred during Rajini Vaidyanathan’s report on the health concerns of US Senator McConnell, who experienced a brief freeze during a press event in Kentucky. The Senator, who has served for 39 years, had previously experienced a 40-second freeze during a similar event in July, prompting his colleagues to intervene.
Vaidyanathan had been drawing a comparison between the ages of Mitch McConnell and prominent American figures when she accidentally made the amusing slip-up about Donald Trump.
The BBC Presenter said: “McConnell is 81, and the average age of a senator is 64 and by way of comparison Joe Biden is 80 and Donald Tramp, excuse me, Donald Trump, 77.”
Following her accidental reference to the former US President, the news anchor promptly rectified her mistake. Despite her efforts to bounce back, people watching the news report noticed the mistake and found it quite amusing.
One person posted a question about the incident on X, formerly Twitter: “Was it a slip of the tongue or in fact a scathing true description? Donald tramp #DonaldTrump.”
Another person wrote: “Ooops bit of a slip up there #bbcnews #DonaldJTrump #donaldtramp #DonaldTrump.”
A third added: “LOOOOOL omg the BBC news presenter saying Donald tramp instead of Donald Trump just now.”
“The BBC World News presenter just said “Donald Tramp” when talking about US Senators etc,” a user wrote.
